For our second week of our first term, we learnt about the basic mechanics of board games, I myself have tons of varied board games and still enjoy learning different gaming mechanics form each one. The games and game ideas that we will be making in the future may incorporate some of these features or design choices, It is important to see how rules are set out and how people react to them.
For our second week of work, the table I sat upon worked as a group to play 3 different board games. These included; Telestrations, UNO and Obama Llama, we each gave our own thoughts of the games and thought about on a graph what emotions each game gave us. As well as playing the game seriously, we also incorporated our own mechanics and ideas into the game to make it more fun and playable.

Example of UNO cards being played.
When we as a group played UNO, we included our own rules and played the game more freely. We then added our own cards and made sure no one backed down without giving up. I finished quite early and the one game we started playing lasted at least 30+ minutes.
The game was fun but most people got mad at each other, like a usual game of monopoly.

Finished rule set of the main board game.
The two pictures up above are the first examples of our group work, the image on the left is the groups original idea, it had more symbols meaning more players on a 6 by 6/9 by 9 game board. The triangle and "tick" players would try to place 4 or 5 of their own pieces onto the game board. The Rule set to the right is my personal written out example of what the game should played like. I wish I had written out more complex rules but I also needed to think about those who didn't want to read long text.
The rules state: 1) Each Player has 3 tiles (Game Pieces) There is an extra tile for once the game starts. 2) The game starts by making one player set a timer for all others, after each 15 seconds passes on the timer, a part of the board fold in. One person will fold the board portrait or in a landscape direction, as paper has a fold rule of 7, if you cannot fold anymore, they can spilt the board in half. (Fold one half under the other)
3)There are 4 max players. 4) If someone is about to get a 3 in a row score, but one tile gets folded over after 15s, their turn gets skipped. The tile will be taken out and used again on another turn.
