For my final major project I am submitting a 2.5D game which now has a total of 5 levels and a boss fight. Initially I had promised 4 levels while two others were "bonus" and may have not made it into the final version of my submission. New level schemes, designs and puzzles have now been implemented too. The level "Angelic Utopia" was scrapped early on but alongside some other fresh level themes, it will be added in post-production.
Something else I promised on my presentation pitch was an art bible. This if submitted will included collaboration art and concepts, new and old. Though I have not compiled much as of this moment, so if it is submitted then know that it may have been due to time constraints and myself focussing on more pressing issues with my game.
The physical art versions of my characters have not also been made as of my submission. I was more so planning to show these off at my degrees show. So you will likely see them there alongside my business cards. Music as well is a problem, my game currently has no sounds or music which may lose the player with my mysterious atmosphere. I discovered this issue not too long ago as the person I had requested for my game music did not reply to a time to call and chat for. I understood that they may have been busy with their work also but it is a shame as I had great ideas for music, maybe this will be done with a post mortem in the weeks leading up to my degree show.
There are also some final game mechanics not implemented like working minecarts and the glowing mechanic. Originally Death was going to have a "glow" mechanic where he could see in dark areas where secret buttons or pressure pads may have been lurking. Without this promised function, I had to remake certain parts of my level as they felt empty. But this was an opportunity for the better in my standards as I was able to be creative with new level puzzles and creative sections that fit the level they resided within. The castle level for example now has a gallows area and the library level has more "Indiana Jones" style environment puzzles.
The story and narrative document that I made is a bit outdated with it omitting some of the newer level layouts that have been made after I stopped writing it. There are some lost concepts and ideas about how and why Eternity is such a threat to the heroes. There are also seeds within the writing which could fuel future ideas for a sequel game. As long as it was however, (did not expect to write so much) it was a fun activity do as requested by my class mate George who thought one would boost my submission since he liked my last 2.5D game idea story.
